As always, we had a blast putting this piece together for SURRENDER.
The theme for their upcoming conference was 'Embodying The Way'. We were tasked to develop a piece that captured this idea of 'embodying the way' and invite their audience to join with them to explore what it really meant to live this out. We intentionally kept things really simple, and almost abstract. We wanted to invite the viewer into the world of our character, to take a moment to slow down, to reflect. You'll noticed both at the start and the end we stay, uncomfortably long on our character's face. We normally engage with strangers fleetingly, a quick glance but this gives us an opportunity to see more than we usually would, to really notice a person. To discover what may lay beneath the surface.
All in all, we wanted the ambiguity to speak to the idea of the way, that in life it's easy to get caught up in busyiness, yet we all need to escape to find freedom, to find life in its fullness. To let go of the traps of culture, and to breathe.
